Womens Squad

Our senior women are currently rowing and racing at several different levels and we’re enjoying successes disproportionate to the size of our river!

The 2015/2016 racing season has seen us competing at several different races at a variety of levels across the range of experience within the squad.
We aim to place new club members with others of a similar level of rowing experience, both in sculling and sweep oar. At the top end, competition for places is encouraged to ensure that we develop the most competitive crews possible.

Squad Activity
Senior Racing We have quads, fours and smaller boats racing at several regattas, with our top boat competing at Henley Masters at a National level, last winning at HWR in 2012. This squad would usually train 6-10 times a week throughout the season starting in September. Training sessions would be early mornings before work, evenings in the summer and early mornings at weekends depending on availability.
Racing Most of our crews at this level will race at local head races and regattas throughout the season. Outings would normally be on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings (daylight permitting) with land sessions making up a total of 3-6 sessions per week.
Recreational/Occasional Racing Our novice and recreational squads train on Saturday mornings from 9:30and Wednesday evenings in the summer. These crews may race at some local events throughout the season and usually train 1-3 times per week.
  • Squad outings on Saturday mornings (seniors from 7-9:30am, intermediate 9:30-11am beginners from 11am-12:30pm) and Sunday mornings (7-9.30am)
  • Squad ergos on alternate Thursday evenings during the winter.

Other sessions are organised around availability of crews, coaches, boats and river space!

Although the women’s squad is nearly at capacity, we do have some specific vacancies, so if you’re looking for a new club, please do get in touch using the “contact us” form. If you’re a competent sculler, but unable to commit to regular training, please do arrange to come and meet us and we can discuss available options.

As with many other clubs, we’re always short of coxes and any new coxes will be very welcome. Our coaching team are also keen for new additions – so please do get in touch if you have time/experience to offer.
