Guildford Rowing Club Women’s Squad
Our senior women are currently rowing and racing at several different levels and we’re enjoying successes disproportionate to the size of our river!
The racing season sees us competing at several different races at a variety of levels across the range of experience within the squad. We aim to place new club members with others of a similar level of rowing experience, both in sculling and sweep oar. At the top end, competition for places is encouraged to ensure that we develop the most competitive crews possible.
Senior Racing
We have quads, fours, doubles, pairs and singles competing at several head races and regattas throughout the year.
This squad would usually train 6-10 times a week. Water training sessions would be early mornings (weekdays and weekends) and weekday evenings (daylight permitting). Land sessions occur on weekday evenings and weekends.
Racing
Most of our crews at this level will race at local head races and regattas throughout the season.
Outings would normally be on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings (daylight permitting) with land sessions making up a total of 3-6 sessions per week.
Recreational/Occasional Racing
Our novice and recreational squads train on Saturday mornings from 9:30 and Wednesday evenings in the summer. These crews may race at some local events throughout the season and usually train 1-3 times per week.
Squad outings on Saturday mornings (seniors from 7-9:30am, intermediate 9:30-11am beginners from 11am-12:30pm) and Sunday mornings (7-9.30am)
Squad ergos on Tuesday & Thursday evenings at 1830 – 2000.
Other sessions are organised around availability of crews, coaches, boats and river space!
